In this mode, Risky Boots encounters the Drifter and receives new duds and weapons upon fulfilling the “Drifter’s Quest.” As shown in the images above, Risky will acquire the Hyper Light Drifter-themed costume and the Drifter Blade, which were both designed by the game’s creator, Alexander Preston.

The next update is the Hyper Light Drifter DLC, a celebration of WayForward’s collaboration with Heart Machine, the developers of Hyper Light Drifter, another game being backed on Kickstarter. While it may look like a simple palette swap on the surface, it has some historical significance regarding Shantae‘s beginnings, which the creators are celebrating with this new reward. When Shantae was originally pitched for the SNES and the PC, Shantae wore a red outfit that would have been upgraded to blue later on in the game. The first backer-exclusive update is an alternate blue color for Shantae’s outfit.

Prior to this update, WayForward announced several free updates for those who already backed the game with a minimum donation of $12 and above: This mode is playable in both the main game and in Risky Mode and also includes a new transformation. “Sequins of Unfortunate Events” is a new plotline added to the main story mode where Shantae investigates a strange phenomenon of carpets going missing during the annual Magic Carpet Races at Cape Crustacean. It will undoubtedly accumulate more money ceaselessly through backing from both payment options.

The game has collected $587,900 (USD) as of now through Kickstarter and $20,000 through PayPal. With less than 48 hours left to donate over at Kickstarter, WayForward has announced the stretch goal for “Sequins of Unfortunate Events,” a bonus chapter for Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, has finally been funded.
